Question 1

What ages do you teach?

Accepted Answer

We welcome dancers from 18 months old right through to adults, including our Silver Swans classes for the over-55s. There really is a class for every age and stage.

Question 2

Do I need any experience to start?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. Most of our students begin as complete beginners. Our teachers create a warm, supportive environment where everyone can progress at their own pace.

Question 3

What should my child wear to their first class?

Accepted Answer

For a first taster, comfortable clothing they can move in and bare feet or socks are perfectly fine. Once enrolled we'll advise on the correct uniform and shoes for each class.

Question 4

Are your teachers qualified?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All of our teachers hold professional dance teaching qualifications, current DBS certificates and full insurance, and complete at least 20 hours of Continuing Professional Development every year.

Question 5

Do you offer examinations?

Accepted Answer

We do. Students can work towards internationally recognised graded examinations with the RAD, IDTA and other awarding bodies, as well as taking part in regular performances. Provisional exam dates for this year are listed on the term dates page. Current families can read the full examination note in the parents' area.

Question 6

How do I choose a dance teacher?

Accepted Answer

Check that the teacher holds a recognised teaching qualification from a reputable society such as the RAD or ISTD. A dance degree, society membership or a performance career, on its own, is not a teaching qualification. Our guide explains what to look for, and what does not count.

Question 7

Where do current parents find school notes?

Accepted Answer

Fees and how to pay, vocational ballet, the Geraldine Lamb Dance Company, examinations and tap shoes are in the parents' area. The school shares the password with current families. It is not the same as your booking login.

Question 8

How do I book or enrol?

Accepted Answer

Booking is quick and easy through our booking portal. You can also get in touch via our contact form and we'll be delighted to help you find the right class.

Question 9

When do terms start and finish?

Accepted Answer

For 2026 / 2027, classes begin on Saturday 5 September 2026 and the autumn and spring teaching period ends on Friday 26 March 2027. Summer term dates will be confirmed. Families receive 30 weeks of tuition across the academic year. See the term dates page for holidays, exams and show weeks.

Question 10

How much do classes cost?

Accepted Answer

Fees depend on how many classes your dancer takes each week, with discounts for more than one class and for paying promptly. Get in touch and we will talk you through it. Current families can find the full fee list in the parents' area.

Question 11

What happens at a taster class?

Accepted Answer

Come along in comfortable clothes you can move in. We'll welcome you, place you in the right group, and your teacher will look after you. There's no pressure to enrol on the day: try a class, see how it feels, then decide.

Question 12

Where are your classes?

Accepted Answer

We teach in Plymouth and Saltash. In Plymouth we dance at Holy Family Church Hall in Beacon Park, Lipson Co-operative Academy, and Plymouth College in Mutley. Our Saltash home is Saltash Baptist Church on Culver Road.
