FAQ

  • What should I wear?
    New students may wear anything they can move in that is comfortable, bare feet for ballet and school shoes for tap. You are not required to buy uniform until the end of their first term.   • Can we come to a trial/taster class?
    Yes of course! You can come and try any of our classes completely free of charge. To book email sue@geraldinelamb.dance
  • Do you have any joining fees?
    None at all, you simply pay for a 5 week block. If you pay by the first lesson of each block you can take advantage of our prompt payment discount. New pupils will not be invoiced until they have attended their free trial.
  • Can my child join midway through a term/ block?
    Students may register at the dance school at any time during the term and fees for the current block of classes will be adjusted accordingly so you only pay for the lessons you have remaining.
  • From what age are children allowed to join the school?
    Children can join the school from when they can walk for our parent and toddler dance class, between 2 1/2 & 3 years they start in our combined ballet and tap class. Jazz, Modern, Acro and Musical Theatre they can start from the age of 6. Due to the nature of Contemporary and the stresses put on the body we ask that students are a minimum of 9 years to attend this and ideally are grade 4 Ballet. Speech and Drama they can commence when they are independent readers.
  • How are fees charged?
    Fees are charged in a block of 5 weeks and are due on or before the first lesson of each block. If you pay by that date there is a £5 reduction.
  • Do you follow school terms?
    Yes. As closely as possible the school's calendar follows school term dates. Occasionally we have to rearrange classes to allow for examinations.
  • Are parents allowed to watch classes?
    Our parent and toddler classes parents are actively encouraged to get involved in the class. From Preschool classes and above we believe all children are most focused when parents are not in the studio. Hence it is your decision when your child moves into this class from the parent and toddler class once they have turned 2 1/2 years.
  • My child is very shy, will they be ok?"
    It is natural to be shy and most of our pupils are nervous at the start, all students are different but they settle within there first few classes. Our teachers and pupils will make your child feel very welcome. Our classes teach friendship and respect for others.
