About Us

About Us

The Geraldine Lamb Dance School was established in Plymouth in 1918 and remains in the same family today.

Our students are our number one priority, we ensure we do everything we can to help them achieve the best of their ability. Our aim is to encourage a natural love of music and movement. build our student's confidence, and of course have a huge amount of fun.

Former students have performed professionally all over the world including the West End and Broadway, both on stage, in film, and on television. Equally, our students are successful in all walks of life and they look back on their days at GLDS with affection and a place where wonderful memories are made. They appreciate that their days with us gave them the confidence and skills to be successful and effective adults.

We are an award-winning dance school, and proud to be leading the way in dance education, right here in the South West.

We look forward to welcoming you to the GLDS family.

Our Teachers

We have a fabulous teaching faculty, who really care about our students. They deliver a wide and varied range of classes and work well as a team and as individuals. They are extremely experienced in dance teaching and have a wealth of knowledge in dance and the current theatre scene. They give their time freely when we are supporting our community, raising funds for charity and often go above beyond particularly during dance school performances and examination days.

Full of ideas both artistically and practically, they lend themselves to a number of talents! As well as dance teachers, they are hairdressers, costume designers, seamstresses, prop makers, cleaners, dressers, stage managers and most importantly they are someone our students trust.

All our teachers hold a current DBS certificate and are fully insured. They also attend Continued Professional Development courses amounting to at least 20 hours a year, to ensure their qualifications are kept up to date. Our teaching faculty are all professional dance teachers with the relevant qualifications and many years of experience in both performing and teaching.

Our dance school would not be what it is today without our wonderful teachers both past and present. We can honestly say we have world class teachers, teaching locally.

When my daughter expressed an interest in learning to dance, it was important to me to find the right school for her. I trained at the Royal Ballet School in London, and I believe that it is crucial that children learn to dance in a way that is safe and considerate of their anatomy, forming good habits early and preventing injury. Geraldine Lamb's teachers have all had the very best training; ensuring the children aren't pushed beyond what their bodies can do, talent is nurtured and the children are emotionally supported. The school places a large emphasis on performance and the joy of dance. The performance opportunities showcase all of the children's talents in a way that is inclusive and supportive.  Geraldine Lamb really is a very special place.
